Christmas etc....

So I've been taking a break from the computer during Christmas and finding inspiration in creating things that don't require photoshop or other related programs. I just needed a break from the computer and stress related to job hunting/life.

This was part of my Christmas gifts for my girl friend. It's been a while since I've sculpted and I think I might do some more before I get heavily back into other things. While making it I realized I should have been using a different sculpting material such as Super Sculpey, but by that point it was a little late to start over.

My girl friend bought me two Munny's to work with. I'm just planning how to go about doing that, so I don't expect to get it done anytime soon (but who knows). As for what I started working on in 3D, I will be finishing it but I'm planning out what to focus on in the new year. The past 4 months I've felt like a chicken running around with it's head chopped off. Trying to do too many different things and not really knowing what I should be focusing on or what I really want to do as a career. Which is normal for a recent grad I guess. But job hunting is a horribly frustrating, time consuming, and mentally draining process. You put a lot of work into it with little return for your efforts. I won't give up though.

I'm going to start practicing again and maybe entering more contests on conceptart.org. I find it hard to motivate myself to work at the moment but contests always get my gears turning. And I will start looking for a part time job somewhere so I can start saving up again.

Whispering Light Contest

I entered a web banner contest a few weeks back for Whispering Light music studio and my design was chosen. Whispering Light Studios is home to two indie musicians; Native American Flutist, Kevin Village Stone and Classical Guitarist, Lindy Day. They are in the process of renovating their site, but you can visit their old website and their Etsy store to see their work.

They also took the time to write a blog post featuring some of my work which was very kind of them and I really appreciate it.

On another note I'm still looking for work. Feeling a little disheartened but trying to not let it get to me. I started working in 3D again today; I haven't actually used the program for months but it feels like I'm just picking up from where I left off. I'll post what I'm working on when it's finished....which will maybe take a week since the pc downstairs is slow and I have to send it to my friend to render. But I'm starting with something simple and straight forward just to refresh my memory of how to use the program.

Grad Film Online

Disconnect from Carolyn Fisk on Vimeo.

I decided to make my grad film public because I feel more people will be able to view it this way and I will be able to get more exposure (positive or negative). Originally I wanted to release it online right after I completed it, but when I learned some festivals would not accept your work if it was online, I uploaded the video for private viewing only. Now I think its more important to have everyone be able to watch it instead of just a few.

So enjoy.

If you need more information about the film, there is a link to the right in the "Labels" section for previous blog entires about working on my grad film, and there is a page on my Online Portfolio about the film.
