I had an idea for something, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted:

It was still fun to do. Though it made me realize I should start doing anatomy studies alongside my environment studies.

And I should also do some life drawing/painting.....so I can't colour pick.

This is a bit of a rush post cause I'm heading out of the house in a bit....this is an entry I made for a weekly group contest on DA. I needed somewhere to upload my WIP so I could link back to it. It's a bit small but I can make it bigger later:

I needed a little more time to work on it, but I had fun and that's the important thing...well learning is also important and I did some of that too.

Had my first day of work today so I didn't get as much done as I usually do.....but I was also on ThinkGeek.com for a couple of hours...

Another weird creature idea for a DA contest. I'll finish this one up tomorrow when I get home.

And I was thinking up ideas for something and some how came up with what can only be described as an "adorably evil space sperm"...

Also I found a small part time job that I can work at twice a week while I continue practicing/making portfolio items and looking for freelance/or studio work. I start my training for it tomorrow and will be doing that for the next few days... or weeks (training that is). I never like the training part of the job. I've always wished there was a way to skip to the "already knowing everything and feeling comfortable in your position" part.

Didn't do as much practice today, but I was working on a secret gift for someone. Don't know if I'll post it here after they see it.

Also didn't win any money from the Subaru contest on DA but my work will be shown during the Toronto Auto Show this year.

I was in a really creative mood today, but due to sitting in front of a computer for several hours re-rendering something in AE over and over.....that creativity died somewhat. Anyways here's some more practice:

I was driving home today and saw a couple things that inspired me....too bad you can't take pictures and drive at the same time. I should have worked on them as soon as I got home but I left it a little late.

Daily Deviation

So on Friday I received a Daily Deviation from deviantart on my grad film which really made my week. I've been struggling for motivation and ideas for the past couple of months, trying to work out what to do job wise/ art wise, so receiving this really brightened my mood. I've gotten so many comments on my film that I'm still in the process of going through them all because I want to reply to as many of them as I can. When I finished my film I was waiting for that moment that would make all the time spent working on it feel worth it. And that moment came when I found out about the Daily Deviation. If anyone does read my blogs, I would like to thank them for taking the time to watch, comment on, and critique my film....you made my week :)

I've also had some people ask if I will be making more films. It's something I've thought about. I have had a few ideas for other animations I could do but nothing that really grabs me yet. Also making a film is a very long and consuming process so I'm not sure about diving into that again right away. Plus the need for a new computer, etc... Lets just say that the career path I'm pursuing right now is something I'm very passionate about and may eventually lead me back into animating another film. I still animate on the side and if my career search continues the way it has I may just end up applying for a grant to help me make another film. Who knows what the future holds.

Anyways because of all the excitement these past couple days (among other life events) I haven't worked on anything new even though I have a million ideas in my head for once. So tomorrow (later today actually) I hope to get a few more practice related studies done and maybe an idea or two of my own. Everyday....thats the plan.

I was using photo reference for these as practice. The picture used for the top one is from one of my own photos, but the bottom one is a combination of a couple different reference pictures. The top image is also the most finished.
