Welcome SIGGRAPH

I've created this post specifically for anyone who receives one of my business cards during SIGGRAPH.

Hello,

My name is Carolyn Fisk. I was Born and raised in British Columbia, and I am an animator, illustrator, and digital artist. I have earned a reputation for meticulous attention to detail and dedication to my projects. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources such as history, Chinese and Japanese calligraphy, film, photography, Japanese manga and anime, and video games. My work combines traditional techniques with computer applications.

This fall (2011) I will receive my Bachelor in Media Arts from Emily Carr University. During my years at university I have developed an interest in both 2D and 3D animation and enjoy incorporating the two in my projects. To accomplish this I have used the following programs: Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS5, Adobe After Effects CS5, Adobe Premiere CS5, and Autodesk 3D Studio Max 2011. I also work on both PC and Mac.

The best example I have to date of my 2D/3D work would be my graduation film that was completed in May 2011. Here is the 30 sec trailer for it:

Disconnect Trailer from Carolyn Fisk on Vimeo.

"Disconnect" combines 3D rendered backgrounds with 2D characters and colouring techniques. A large portion of this blog is dedicated to my film and can be found here: http://fisk-carolyn.blogspot.com/search/label/grad%20film

If you are interested in seeing the full film, I do have it uploaded online but it is password protected because I am trying to get it into festivals. Please contact me by email or leave a comment (with your email address) if you would like the link and password to view the full film. The runtime for it is 3:18 min.

----

Please also take the time to view my online portfolio: http://carolynfisk.daportfolio.com I wish I had more work online to show, but I am still in the process of creating better work and a larger portfolio site.

Most of the portfolio work is an assortment concept art and illustrations, environments created for my film, and life drawing. I would love to add more 3D modeling work to my portfolio in the future. I am very interested in learning more 3D programs such as Maya and Zbrush... I no longer have access to computers which can run the programs, but I hope to find a solution to this soon.

----

Unfortunately I do not have a demo reel at this time. Which may hurt my chances for most jobs, but I really want to take the time to create work that can make my demo reel stand out in a crowd. I do have some old work on Vimeo, but again my best work to date is my grad film and you will need to contact me for a link and a password to view the full film.

----

I'm also Linkedin.

----

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and view my work.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Fisk
